Japanese Pittosporum, also called Japanese Cheesewood, brings dense evergreen foliage to garden accents and hedges. Pittosporum tobira can develop into a substantial shrub, so give it room to grow.
Light
Grow in full sun to partial shade.
Soil & water
Choose well-drained soil. Water regularly while establishing, then as needed during dry periods. Avoid keeping the root zone waterlogged.
Planning your space
Allow for the mature shrub rather than spacing only by the nursery pot size. Prune as needed to maintain the shape you want.
