Description
The Pinwheel Flower is a lovely, compact shrub that adds a touch of elegance with its fragrant, white, pinwheel-shaped flowers. Light requirements
Tabernaemontana divaricata thrives in full sun to partial shade. For the best flowering, place it in a spot with at least 4–6 hours of direct sunlight each day. While it can tolerate some shade, it blooms best and remains more compact in full sunlight.
Soil preferences, including pH and drainage
This plant prefers well-draining, slightly acidic to neutral soil (pH 6.0–7.0). It adapts well to sandy, loamy, or clay soils, as long as they don’t stay soggy. Ensure the soil is rich in organic matter for the healthiest growth.
Water needs
Water regularly to keep the soil consistently moist, especially during dry spells. Once established, it is somewhat drought-tolerant but will perform best with regular moisture. Be careful not to overwater, as it can be susceptible to root rot in poorly draining soils.
