Cabada Palm
Binomial name
Dypsis cabadae
Common names
Cabada Palm, Cabada's Palm
Light requirements
This palm enjoys bright, indirect light and can tolerate a bit of direct sun, though it thrives in partial shade. It’s perfect for bright indoor spaces where it won’t get too much harsh sunlight. If you’re growing it outdoors, a spot with filtered light is ideal, especially in tropical climates.
Soil preferences, including pH and drainage
Dypsis cabadae prefers well-draining, slightly acidic to neutral soil (pH 6.0–7.0). A well-balanced mix with plenty of organic matter works best, but make sure it drains well to avoid waterlogging. It does best in sandy or loamy soil that allows water to pass through easily.
Water needs
Water regularly, keeping the soil evenly moist but not soggy. Let the top inch of soil dry out between waterings. While it’s relatively tolerant of dry conditions, it grows best when kept consistently moist, especially in warmer months. Be sure to let it drain well to avoid root rot.
