Keep fresh herb flavor close to the kitchen with Basil. Its aromatic green leaves suit sunny containers and herb beds, and regular tip harvesting helps encourage a fuller plant.
Light
Choose a sunny location with plenty of light.
Soil & water
Provide fertile, well-drained soil and regular moisture. Containers may need more frequent checks in hot weather. Avoid letting the roots sit in water.
Growing for leaves
Pinch off flower spikes if leaf production is your goal. Protect this warm-season herb from cold weather, and harvest lightly while a young plant establishes.
