Variegated Caribbean Agave (Agave angustifolia) forms a bold rosette of narrow green leaves edged in creamy yellow. Its architectural shape makes a striking accent in South Florida landscapes and large containers.
Light: Grow in full sun for the strongest form and color. It also tolerates part sun or light afternoon shade.
Soil: Plant in fast-draining soil. Raised beds, sandy soil, or a gritty container mix help prevent water from collecting around the roots.
Water: Water to establish, then allow the soil to dry between waterings. Once established, this agave is drought tolerant and needs little supplemental irrigation.
Placement: Leave room around paths and seating areas because the leaf tips and margins can be sharp. Protect from hard freezes. Mature plants produce offsets that can be separated and replanted.
