Light requirements
Tropical Freylinia grows best in full sun to partial shade. In full sun, it will flower more abundantly and develop a denser growth habit. However, it can tolerate some light shade and still perform well, though flowering may be less prolific. Aim for at least 4 hours of sunlight each day for optimal growth.
Soil preferences, including pH and drainage
Tropical Freylinia prefers well-draining, slightly acidic to neutral soil with a pH of 6.0 to 7.0. It grows well in sandy, loamy, or slightly clayey soil as long as drainage is good. If planting in a container, ensure it has proper drainage to prevent root rot. This plant enjoys rich, fertile soil that holds moisture but doesn’t become waterlogged.
Water needs
Water Freylinia tropica regularly to keep the soil evenly moist, especially during the growing season. However, it is quite drought-tolerant once established and can withstand some periods of dryness. Be sure to avoid overwatering, as this can lead to root rot.
