Binomial name

Psidium littorale

Common names

Strawberry Guava, Cattley Guava

Light requirements

Psidium littorale loves full sun! It thrives in bright, direct sunlight and will reward you with delicious fruits when exposed to plenty of light. It can tolerate some light shade, but the best growth and fruit production happen when it gets full sun. If growing indoors, a sunny spot with lots of light will keep it happy.

Soil preferences, including pH and drainage

This plant prefers well-draining, slightly acidic to neutral soil (pH 6.0–7.0). It grows best in loamy or sandy soils that drain easily. Good drainage is essential to prevent waterlogging, as the plant doesn’t like to sit in soggy conditions.

Water needs

Water regularly, keeping the soil moderately moist but not soggy. Allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings, and be sure to avoid overwatering. Once established, Psidium littorale is somewhat drought-tolerant but will grow better with consistent moisture, especially during the fruiting season.
