Light requirements

This sun-loving shrub thrives in full sun, where it can bask in all that warm, bright light. It can tolerate some partial shade, but the more sun it gets, the more vibrant its foliage and blooms will be.

Soil preferences, including pH and drainage

Vitex trifolia isn’t picky when it comes to soil, as long as it drains well. It can handle a variety of soil types, including sandy or clay, but it does best in slightly alkaline to neutral soil, around pH 6.0–7.5.

Water needs

Once established, Vitex trifolia is quite drought-tolerant, making it a great low-maintenance choice for dry gardens. Keep it watered during the hotter months, but once it’s settled in, it’ll thrive with minimal attention. Just make sure the soil has dried out before you water again!
