WE PAMPER YOUR PLANTS

that is to say…

Your Plants May Arrive in Dirty Diapers

Yes. We ship plants throughout the US in diapers. We realize this requires an explanation.

At Inch By Yard, we source living plants—not boxes that have been sitting on a warehouse shelf. Before a plant travels to its new home, we carefully remove excess soil, inspect the roots, and give the root ball a good soak.

And then we pamper them.

Like literally. We diaper your plants. Because shipping is stressful on most tropical plants.

Imagine being happily photosynthesizing in perfect nursery conditions and then suddenly someone puts you on a truck to Ohio.

We Pamper Your Plant Like a Baby

We understand these are not just plants, you have new babies on the way!

Left with only a tracking number and a prayer, we hand them to a shipping carrier and worry about them until they get to you.

Why diapers of all things?

Adult diapers are surprisingly perfect for shipping plants. They’re soft, lightweight and designed to absorb and hold moisture—which is exactly what a plant’s roots need while traveling across the country in a dark cardboard box.

Honestly? We discovered them because thrift stores frequently have unopened packages of adult incontinence products that are difficult to sell.

We love finding creative uses for materials that already exist.

And when we started thinking about what plants actually need during shipping—moisture retention, cushioning and protection—the answer was sitting right there on a thrift store shelf.

A diaper.

And then we realized: Wait. They’re lightweight. They’re absorbent. They hold moisture and it’s HOT af.

WE SHIP LIVING PLANTS. 💡🌱

So now we soak our plants’ roots, wrap the root balls in diapers and carefully pack them for their trip across the country.

The diaper helps keep the root ball moist without leaving the entire shipping box soaking wet.

So, your plant may arrive in a dirty diaper.

And we consider that excellent customer service. 😂
