Description

Tagetes patula, commonly known as French Marigold, is a cheerful and vibrant annual that brings a burst of color to gardens, pots, and borders. Light requirements

Prefers well-draining, moderately fertile soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0 to 7.0). It grows well in average garden soil and doesn’t require rich, heavy soil to thrive. Good drainage is important to prevent waterlogging, which can lead to root rot.

Water needs

Water regularly to keep the soil evenly moist, especially during dry spells, but avoid overwatering, as Tagetes patula doesn’t like to sit in soggy soil. Water at the base of the plant to keep the foliage dry, which helps prevent fungal diseases. During the growing season, let the top inch of soil dry out between waterings.
