Australian Tree Fern
Binomial name
Cyathea cooperi
Light requirements
This elegant fern prefers bright, indirect light but can also tolerate a bit of light shade. While it can handle some direct sunlight, it’s best to keep it in a spot where the light is soft and filtered, as harsh sun can burn its fronds.
Soil preferences, including pH and drainage
Cyathea cooperi loves rich, well-draining, slightly acidic soil. A mix of peat moss, perlite, and compost works wonders to keep the roots happy and healthy. Aim for a soil pH between 5.5 and 6.5 for the best growth.
Water needs
This fern loves moisture! Keep the soil consistently moist, but make sure it drains well to avoid waterlogging. Cyathea cooperi thrives in humid conditions, so occasional misting or placing it near a humidifier will make it feel right at home. Water it when the top inch of soil feels dry, but never let it dry out completely.
